Dhofar Automotive holds send-off event for Jeep Wrangler Euro Expedition
Dhofar Automotive recently organised a special ceremony for launching the journey of two Omani adventurers, Salim Mohamed Khamis al Shukaili and Aiman Abdullah Khalfan al Amiri, Omani Jeep Wrangler owners who have now departed on a Dhofar Automotive cosponsored road trip across Europe.
The two adventurers plan on visiting 16 countries across the Middle East, Asia and Europe where they are expected to cover a distance of over 20,000km over the course of 40 days in their Wrangler.
The event was recently hosted by Dhofar Automotive at their showroom in Wattayah in the presence of Rhett Maxwell, general manager of Dhofar Automotive, Amjad bin Ali al Fayrouz, commander of the Oman Jeep Heroes Team as well as senior members of Dhofar Automotive staff, members of Shukaili’s and Amiri’s family and friends and a large crowd of Jeep lovers and members of the Oman Jeep Heroes Team.
Maxwell said, “As a proud Omani company, we are always on the lookout for young Omanis who are willing to push their skills and capabilities to the limit. It is no easy task to cover an average of nearly 500km a day, every day, for 40 days straight. But I am confident that Shukaili and Amiri are up for the task, and I know the Jeep Wrangler that they have decided to undertake the trip in is certainly up to the challenge.”
Commenting on the preparation period for this adventure, Fayrouz said, “Over the past six months, the Oman Jeep Heroes Team has been working with Shukaili and Amiri in preparation for this adventure, one that aims to cross most European countries and head back to Oman within a timespan of just five weeks.
“We have worked to get all the necessary permits and approvals to facilitate this task and we have also contacted sponsors in order to receive the necessary support to make this challenge a success. We are delighted that Shukaili and Amiri have embarked on this trip and we wish them success.
“We would also like to thank all sponsors and Dhofar Automotive for their continuous support of Oman Jeep Heroes Team and Jeep fans across the sultanate.”
Shukaili and Amiri are avid Jeep fans and proud members of Oman Jeep Heroes, a well renowned Jeep owners club in Oman. They will visit 16 countries, during their five-week trip, across the Middle East, Asia, and Europe, making them the first Omani team to do so.
The countries that they will be visiting include Oman, the UAE, Iran, Azerbaijan, Georgia, Turkey, Bulgaria, Serbia, Hungary, Austria, Germany, France, Switzerland, Italy, Slovenia and Croatia, visiting every major city in each of these countries before heading back to Oman.
It is estimated that they will cover a distance of over 20,000km over the course of 40 days.
“I am fond of off-road and long-distance overland journeys and undertaking such an adventure has always been a dream of mine. It has taken us over six months to plan this trip and I am extremely grateful to Dhofar Automotive for helping me make it a reality. I look forward to the challenge ahead and I’m confident my Wrangler is up to the task; this trip will be a great test of its capabilities and reliability,” said Shukaili, before he set off.
Amiri said, “We are very excited to be taking up this challenge, crossing all these countries in just 40 days. This gives us two and a half days at most to cross each country and it is no easy task, but we are confident in our ability to do so and succeed in this challenge. We are also grateful to the Oman Jeep Heroes Team who worked with us on this journey right from the beginning.’’
