MoT plans one-stop solution concierge app for all tourist-related services
The Ministry of Tourism (MoT) has floated an international tender for developing an electronic application for smartphones or the E-Concierge App.
It is only a matter of time when tourists or even residents looking for information or assistance in planning their holidays in the sultanate will easily be able to do it with only a touch on their smartphones.
“The app will offer accommodation and transportation services, an Omani event calendar, renowned local tour guides, consultations and more,” stated the Implementation Support and Follow-up Unit (ISFU).
The ministry stated in the scope of tender that it is seeking to develop an electronic application for mobile phones aimed at informing potential visitors and tourists, current visitors and tourists, as well as foreign residents and Omanis of tourism attractions, tourism sites, re- sources, events and happenings in Oman.
“In addition (it will offer) loyalty offers and deals, in order for all users of the application to be informed and assisted in planning their holidays and visits.”
It further said, “The applica- tion should also have booking engine capabilities for events, redeeming rewards and purchasing loyalty discounts and prizes.”
The application will be compatible with all platforms, such as Apple iOS, Android and Windows. “Initially in English, the application should eventually have an Arabic option as well,” the ministry stated.
Some of the benefits that EConcierge App would provide include an engaging mobile tool for visitors as reference directories of local attractions, a calendar of events, places and maps, and much more.
It would also help by providing the visitors the convenience of mapping with GPS and turn-byturn directions, and showcase the destination through experienced guides and eat/stay/play directories to show visitors the best the location has to offer.
Concierge app will also help in sending engaging, actionable push messages with the click of a button to deliver event reminders, promote flash sales, or share local news. It will also benefit local businesses as they can be featured in the app through directories, maps, and push notifications that drive visitors to connect with the owners.
The tender is open for bidding until November 15, while tender document sale is on till October 24.
The app will offer accommodation, transportation services, Omani event calendar and local tour guides
