Rotana, one of the leading hospitality management companies in the Middle East, Africa and Turkey, is continuing its ambitious expansion plans with the opening of Sundus Rotana Muscat, the group’s first property in Oman’s vibrant capital. With the latest annual report by the Ministry of Tourism showing a 16 per cent increase in tourist arrivals to Oman, the new hotel will help drive the sultanate’s reputation as a world-class business and leisure tourism destination.

Minutes away from Muscat International Airport, Sundus Rotana Muscat promises its guests and visitors unforgettable experiences starting from its 215 spacious rooms and suites, Bodylines Fitness and Wellness Club to its state-of-the-art meeting facilities and modern ballroom which can accommodate up to 300 people. The hotel is also home to three signature restaurants set to add a new ‘flavour’ to Muscat’s dining scene.

Christian Baudat, area general manager for Rotana Abu Dhabi, Al Ain and Oman, said, “Our entry into Muscat brings the Rotana brand’s highly personalised and modern service to the sultanate’s flourishing capital for the first time. Visitors of every segment can look forward to a world-class and one-of-a-kind experience that brings to life Oman’s legendary history of au- thentic hospitality.”

The opening of Rotana’s first hotel in Muscat is also set to offer SMEs and talented Omani youths an opportunity to enter the hospitality industry. Sundus Rotana has already created over 200 jobs throughout its construction and first phase of operation, with plans already underway to increase its Omanisation rate beyond its current 35 per cent.

Baudat added, “In every market we operate, we have earned a reputation for nurturing local youth and the sultanate will be no different. We believe that Oman’s ambitious goal of attracting five million tourists a year by 2040 can and will be achieved by opening up gateways of opportunities for talented Omanis to enter the tourism sector. As a direct result, Sundus Rotana will be rolling out a number of programmes to harness the full potential of our future industry leaders and sharpen the skillsets of our staff.”
