Nissan celebrates 150mn vehicles produced globally

-

Nissan Motor Company Ltd has reached a new milestone with 150mn vehicles produced globally. It took 73 years for Nissan to produce its first 100mn vehicles after the company was founded in 1933 and another 11 years to build the last 50mn.

Nissan sees this achievement as the result of 84 years of continued support from all of its stakeholders worldwide, including employees, business partners, suppliers and local communities as well as the numerous customers who have chosen cars produced by Nissan.

In Oman, Suhail Bahwan Automobiles (SBA) is the distributor of Nissan range of vehicles. A senior official of Nissan Oman, from the house of SBA said, “It is a moment of great pride for us. We acknowledge that this milestone has been possible by ardent fans of the Nissan range of vehicles.

“Following this latest milestone, Nissan remains committed to delivering cars that satisfy its customers.”

When Nissan reached the 100mn vehicle milestone in 2006, 76.5 per cent of the total vehicles had been produced in Japan. Localisation of production accelerated in the past 11 years, during which 76.5 per cent of the 50mn Nissan vehicles were made outside Japan, driven in particularly by the US, Asia and Europe.

Awards for Nissan

By strengthening its presence in the hearts and minds of the Oman customers, Nissan won multiple honours with the consumers naming it the ‘most trusted’ and the ‘most popular’ brand in Oman in the calendar year of 2016.

While Nissan was awarded the significant ‘Most Popular Car brand in Oman’ at the Oman Auto Excellence Awards 2016 organised by OmanExpo, the brand was adjudged the ‘Most Trusted Brand’ in the automotive category in an online survey conducted by Muscat Daily.

Significantly, both the awards were decided based on the results of an online public voting process where consumers voted for their preferred brands.
