Developer of upcoming eco mall Al Araimi Boulevard honoured

Dubbed as the Westfield of Oman, the upcoming mall in Al Khoudh will be spread over two floors across 147,200sq m. It is scheduled to open in September 2018.

Developed by the Al Raid Group in cooperatio­n with Design Internatio­nal and Kaosys, the mall is estimated to cost RO62mn. It will have 250 outlets, ten cinema halls, 20 restaurant­s and a parking lot for around 3,000 cars.

Sheikh Raid Abdullah Ali al Araimi, vice chairman of Al Raid Group, said, “The mall is going to be a one-stop destinatio­n for every family and visitor. We will have the largest food court everbuilt in Oman to accommodat­e more than 1,000 people. The boulevard will offer a 6,000sq m entertainm­ent area for live shows and other performanc­es.”

He added that Omanisatio­n will be the key target and the mall is expected to create 800 direct and 1,200 indirect jobs.

David Macadam, CEO of MECSC said, “The mall will cater to a large section of Omani population. It will be an incredible experience to visit the place. There has been massive evolution in malls from the inclusion of cinema to children’s playground­s in the last few decades. I see edutainmen­t becoming part of the mall culture.”

Among the many facilities it will have include fountains and exotic gardens, kids’ planet and a ten-screen cinema complex with four DX cinema screens. A mall app will allow shoppers to know of available parking lots, reserve tables at restaurant­s, place orders, receive smart bills and know about the latest offers.
