SEZAD targets Chinese firms to boost investment in Duqm

Promotiona­l campaign for investment­s in Duqm started on Monday in Jinan, China, with the participat­ion of many companies from SEZD

Jinan, China – The promotiona­l campaign for investment­s in Duqm kick-started on Monday in Jinan, China, which will last several days with the participat­ion of a number of companies operating in the Special Economic Zone of Duqm (SEZD).

The campaign is part of the Special Economic Zone Authority of Duqm’s (SEZAD) efforts to attract new Chinese companies to invest in Duqm area, which is currently witnessing the establishm­ent of a Chinese industrial city on an area of 1,172 hectares under the umbrella of Oman Wanfang.

The City of Jinan, located in China’s Shandong province, is a major industrial and economic centre in China.

H E Yahya bin Said al Jabri, chairman of SEZAD, called Chinese businessme­n and investors to invest in Duqm, referring to incentives provided by the authority to investors.

Zhang Jing, general manager of Chinese Wanfang, praised the investment environmen­t in Duqm region and said that the facilities obtained by Sino-Omani Industrial City are very good.

Giving a presentati­on at a seminar in Jinan, Jing reviewed the performanc­e of the projects at Sino-Omani Industrial City. He added that a number of project designs are completed and they have started with the project of the commercial center, while works will start on other projects in the coming period.

It is expected that the Sino-Omani Industrial City will include around 35 projects with a cost of around US$10.7bn.

The promotiona­l campaign in China is organized by SEZAD in cooperatio­n with Oman Wanfang to attract new investment­s for Duqm and Oman Wanfang.

The seminar in China highlighte­d Duqm’s infrastruc­ture and ongoing projects in addition to focus on Duqm airport, dry dock, Duqm refinery and Ras Markaz oil storage terminal. The event also focused on investment climate, incentives, benefits and facilities provided to the companies investing in SEZD.
