MSM30 declines 0.24%; volumes up

Muscat – The benchmark index of the Muscat Securities Market fell 0.24 per cent to close at 4,485.06 points on Wednesday.

Trading activity improved compared to the previous session as turnover increased by 5.66 per cent to RO1.62mn and trading volumes rose 31.3 per cent to 7.81mn shares.

Among the sub-indices, Financial index fell 0.37 per cent, Industrial index inched up 0.02 per cent and Services index decreased 0.09 per cent. The MSM Shariah index closed down by 0.06 per cent at 622.01 points.

Market breadth remained negative as six companies closed up, while 13 companies closed down. As many as 24 companies closed flat for the day.

Top gainers of the day were Gulf Investment Services (2.13 per cent), Gulf Internatio­nal Chemicals (1.53 per cent) and Al Anwar Ceramic Tiles (1.1 per cent).

Top losers included Al Madina Investment (-4.55 per cent), Oman Qatar Insurance (-3.48 per cent) and Oman and Emirates Investment Holding (-3.1 per cent).
