Badr al Samaa to open upgraded hospital

Badr al Samaa Group of Hospitals and Polyclinic­s has upgraded its Barka facility to an advanced multi-specialty hospital.

The expanded 80-bed hospital will be inaugurate­d on Monday, by H E Sheikh Saad bin Mohammed bin Said al Mardhouf al Saadi, Minister of Sports Affairs. Dr Mazin Jawad al Khabouri, director general of Private Health Establishm­ents will be the guest of honour at the event.

The inaugural ceremony will be attended by P A Mohammed, Dr V T Vinod and Abdul Latheef, managing directors, Badr al Samaa Group of Hospitals and Polyclinic­s along with dignitarie­s from embassies, corporate officials, insurance companies and social organisati­ons.

Dr Shafeek Muhammed, group CEO of the hospitals said, “After 17 years in Oman, Badr Samaa is happy to offer quality care at affordable prices. This is a huge challenge for the management when it comes to cost. But despite that we have never increased the cost. It is our policy to not compromise on the quality of our doctors as well as state-ofthe-art technology.”

Dr Muhammed said that the Barka facility will also offer laser technology. “We will also have ambulances to cater to all four branches in Muscat that will work together. All major surgeries will be conducted in Barka as there are three operating rooms with zero infection rate.”

He said that more citizens have been recruited, anticipati­ng more Omanis to the Barka branch. We have staff up to 270,” he said.

“The expanded facilities include state-of-the-art imaging equipment and services with provision for cardiac care, all major and minor surgeries. The three renovated operation theatres are equipped to handle all kinds of general, orthopaedi­c, urological, neurologic­al, gynaecolog­y, ENT and ophthalmic cases. In addition, it also has a modern endoscopy suite, labour suite, CCU, MICU, neonatal intensive care unit (NICU) and a CT scan,” said Dr Muhammed.

The suites include deluxe and super deluxe rooms. There is also a dedicated room for recovery and recuperati­on with an array of skilled personnel.

Barka residents will be able to get free consultati­ons from September 25 to 27 to mark the opening of the facility. “The facility ensures that residents of Barka will have access to ad- vanced medical care at its current location and benefit from bigger space with increased service capacity such as having more counters for registrati­on, more service rooms and a hitech laboratory, radiology and other facilities. The building is compliant with JCI standards with more spacious bed-lifts, disabled-friendly toilets and ramps for wheelchair access,” he said.

Dr Muhammed also announced the biggest green field project with the Badr al Samaa, Sohar. “It is expected to be operationa­l by the end of 2019. It will serve as a referral centre for the entire Batinah region. New facilities have also been planned in Suwaiq, Ma’abela, Muscat, and in other parts of GCC.”
