ROP lists few exceptions for movement during night curfew

-

In line with the recent night curfew decision of the Supreme Committee for COVID-19, Royal Oman Police (ROP) has stated that the movement of people will be prohibited, with a few exceptions, between 8pm and 5am until October 24.

The ROP said it will intensify patrolling and use drones to monitor compliance during the lockdown hours.

However, travellers arriving and departing through airports will be allowed to reach their destination provided they furnish tickets as proof of travel. The ROP has directed owners of offices, shops, hospitality sector and servicing activities to adjust operating hours to allow their staff to return home before 8pm.

Vehicles that will be allowed movement during the lockdown hours are emergency vehicles (electricity/water and communications), garbage and sewage trucks, ambulance and civil defence vehicles, food supply and consumables, fish transport vehicles, oil/gas and water tankers, medical staff as well as workers in the COVID-19 field hospital at the old airport, trucks transporting containers for import and export through ports and official border posts (truck drivers only), people in emergency and humanitarian situations as well as patients with appointments in hospitals and medical centres (proof of appointment will be required). The ROP said it will intensify patrolling and use drones to monitor compliance during the lockdown hours
