Omantel League games on Oct 23 to kickoff at 4pm
The Oman Football Association (OFA) has brought forward the timings of the October 23 games of the 2019-20 Omantel League round. According to a statement released by the OFA on Sunday, the seven games featuring all 14 clubs of the Omantel League will kick-off at 4pm instead of 7pm.
The decision to bring forward the timings on October 23 was necessitated following Friday's decision to enforce a two-week night lockdown (8pm-5am) from Sunday by the Supreme Committee tasked with tackling developments resulting from the COVID-19 pandemic.
With the lockdown ending on October 24, the OFA released a statement that the 2019-20 Omantel League will resume on October 23 as announced earlier. However, the October 23 games will now be played from 4pm. The First Division League remaining rounds, which are scheduled to begin on October 21 will also have similar kick-off schedule.
However, post-lockdown, the games will be played at the earlier announced schedule of a 7pm kickoff. The remaining
Omantel League rounds will be held on October 28 and November 1.
The First Division League will be played from October 21-30. The final three spots to decide the promotion to Omantel League will be decided on November 3.
When the top-flight season was suspended in March, Seeb was leading the points table and is close to laying hands on the winner's trophy for the first time with a five-point lead (50 points) over their nearest rival Dhofar.
Seeb will hope to beat relegation-threatened Oman Club when they meet on Oct 23 at the ROP Stadium with Dhofar tackling Muscat at home on the same day.
All the matches will be held behind closed doors and the participating clubs and the support staff have been instructed to adhere to strict health protocols.
