Muscat - The ongoing night curfew in the sultanate and the ongoing situation of the coronavirus pandemic has led to the postponement of the National Table Tennis Championship.

According to a press release from the Oman Table Tennis Association (OTTA), the OTTA board decided to postpone the national championship (teams category) till next year due to the current COVID-19 pandemic and the latest decision by the Supreme Committee on tackling the COVID-19 of restricting night movements in the sultanate until October 24.

The OTTA also postponed the qualifiers for the national championship, which were scheduled to be held in Salalah (October 16-17) and in Muscat (October 24).

The decisions were taken during a virtual OTTA board meeting, which also discussed the inclusion of new clubs in the OTTA. The OTTA has received the requests from Salalah, Al Bashayer, Oman, Khasab, Saham and Quriyat clubs and the OTTA chairman, Abdullah Bamkhalef, said that the clubs have been requested to submit all the relevant papers to include them in the association.

The board approved the agenda of the activities for the forthcoming year, which features series of domestic tournaments, participation at international events, external camps, seminars for national coaches and referees.

The board also agreed on organising seminars in other governorates including Musandam governorate.
