Man United trig­ger Pogba con­tract ex­ten­sion

Manchester United have trig­gered the one-year op­tion on Paul Pogba's con­tract in a move that will keep the France mid­fielder at Old Traf­ford un­til 2022. Pogba was due to be out of con­tract at the end of this sea­son and re­cently ramped up spec­u­la­tion that he could leave United by ad­mit­ting it would be a 'dream' to play for Real Madrid. But, ac­cord­ing to re­ports on Fri­day, United have moved to se­cure Pogba's ser­vices un­til at least the end of next sea­son by tak­ing ad­van­tage of the ex­ten­sion clause in the World Cup win­ner's con­tract.

For­mer City de­fender Za­baleta re­tires

For­mer Manchester City and Ar­gentina de­fender Pablo Za­baleta an­nounced his re­tire­ment on Fri­day. Za­baleta left West Ham at the end of last sea­son and has de­cided to bring the cur­tain down on his suc­cess­ful 18-year ca­reer. The 35 year old full­back joined City from Es­panyol in 2008 and played his part in an era of un­prece­dented glory for the English Premier League club. Za­baleta spent nine years at City, mak­ing 333 ap­pear­ances and help­ing them win the Premier League in 2011-12 and 2013-14. Capped 58 times by Ar­gentina, Za­baleta also won the FA Cup in 2011 and the League Cup in 2014 and 2016.
