Navra­tri fes­tiv­i­ties be­gin on­line

The nine-day In­dian fes­ti­val Navra­tri is a time of cel­e­bra­tion. It is also a time for fam­ily bond­ing. Due to the pan­demic this year, the cel­e­bra­tions in the sul­tanate are be­ing held on­line with tra­di­tional mu­sic and dance events be­ing or­gan­ised over nine nights from Oc­to­ber 17 to 25.

Dur­ing Navra­tri, Ekata Mus­cat is where renowned artistes pre­sented their per­for­mances in Kar­natic and Hin­dus­tani com­po­si­tions in ear­lier years.

Aravind, pres­i­dent of Ekata Mus­cat, said, “Ev­ery year we have a gath­er­ing in Mus­cat where as many as 200 peo­ple come on a daily ba­sis for nine days. This year we have not stopped the prac­tice and have gone on­line.

“We will not dis­ap­point any­one and we have the sig­na­ture pro­gramme, Navra­tri Sangeethol­savam, nine con­sec­u­tive days of clas­si­cal con­certs with var­i­ous per­form­ers from Oman and abroad.”

The event is be­ing livestream­ed on Ekata Mus­cat’s Face­book page, YouTube chan­nel and Zoom from 7pm to 9pm.
