Ministers visit Musandam to support tourism projects
A high-level delegation comprising several ministers visited Musandam governorate on Thursday and discussed numerous topics related to the heritage and tourism sectors in the governorate.
A statement from the Ministry of Heritage and Tourism said, ‘H E Salim bin Mohammed al Mahrouqi, Minister of Heritage and Tourism, H E Dr Khalfan bin Said bin Mubarak al Shu’aili, Minister of Housing and Urban Planning, and H E Sayyid Ibrahim bin Said al Busaidy, Minister of State and Governor of Musandam, made field visits in the presence of their excellencies the members of the State Council and Majlis A’Shura.’
The meeting discussed several topics related to the heritage and tourism sectors in the governorate. The team visited a number of sites in the four wilayats of the governorate and followed up on their progress.
In December 2020, H E Eng Said bin Hamoud al Ma’awali, Minister of Transport, Communications and Information Technology, H E Dr Said bin Mohammed al Saqri, Minister of Economy, and H E Sayyid Ibrahim bin Said al Busaidy, Minister of State and Governor of Musandam, also made field visits to Musandam.
The development projects and the needs of the people in the various wilayats of Musandam governorate were reviewed by the ministers, the Ministry of Transport, Communication and Information Technology had said.
‘The ministers toured a number of development projects and facilities in Musandam, including Khasab Port, where the general development plan for the port was viewed. The plan includes building a tourist berth, building three floating berths, building a commercial berth to receive commercial ships, and extending the current seaport,’ said the ministry . In 2019, 332,489 tourists and 72 cruise ships visited the governorate.
