Abdul Rahman Abdullah al Shizawi, regional manager – North Batinah, Bank Muscat, handed over project completion certificates to the teams at the handover events, which were organised in full compliance with COVID-19 norms.

The total number of teams, which have benefitted from the programme until the end of last year has now reached 123, confirming the great success of the programme.

On this occasion, Shizawi congratulated all the teams and their members for this achievement and for what they have done during the recent past.

The bank has already handed over 118 sports fields and more will be inaugurated soon. He added that Green Sports fields add to the green spaces across the country and are also used by local communities for a number of activities apart from sports.

The scope of support under the Green Sports programme included installation of artificial turf or natural grass on sports fields, floodlighting and water-desalination systems. There is no doubt that it has been greatly contributing to further build Omani sporting talent.

The programme is providing an excellent means to channelise the energy and talents of Omani youth in a productive way, besides helping local communities develop stronger bonds. Importantly, it is building a pipeline of talented players who can represent the country at all levels in the future. There is no doubt that it also has a positive impact on the environment. Bank Muscat’s longest running CSR programme will continue to support and serve the community.
