Work suspended at three health centres in Dhofar

The Ministry of Health (MoH) reported 57 COVID-19 deaths in the last three days taking the death toll to 1,878. The number of new cases reported during the same period was 3,363, accounting for a total of 180,031.

There were 3,479 recoveries, taking the total number of recovered COVID-19 patients to 160,324 and the rate recovery to 89 per cent, according to an MoH statement.

As of Sunday, a total of 823 COVID-19 patients were in health institutio­ns, including 261 in intensive care.

Meanwhile, the Directorat­e General of Health Services in Dhofar has announced the temporary suspension of work in three health centres in the governorat­e. ‘Based on the increase in the number of hospitalis­ed and critical cases at Sultan Qaboos Hospital (SQH) Salalah, there is an urgent need to support the hospital with medical and administra­tive staff,’ a statement said.

‘In this regard, a temporary suspension of work has been decided in Al Dahariz Health Centre, Salalah al Jadidah Health Centre and Hajif Health Centre as of Tuesday, April 20, 2021, until further notice.’

Additional­ly, an assessment team for staff safety from the COVID-19 pandemic was formed by Ministeria­l Decision No 105/2020 to implement precaution­ary measures in MoH facilities.

The team, under the chairmansh­ip of Dr Qamra al Sariri, Director General of Quality Assurance Centre, is visiting health directorat­es to implement measures and requiremen­ts to be followed at the facilities.

The team is currently performing epidemiolo­gical investigat­ions of COVID-19 incidences in MoH headquarte­rs and studying necessary measures.
