Stricter measures ahead
NIGHT MOVEMENT BAN FROM 5PM TO 4AM FROM JULY 16 TOTAL LOCKDOWN DURING EID AL ADHA HOLIDAYS
The Supreme Committee tasked with tackling the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic has issued a number of decisions including imposition of an all-day ban on individual and vehicle movement and closure of commercial activities in the three days of Eid al Adha (Dhul Hijja 10 to 12).
The committee has also decided to extend the duration of the closure of commercial activities and ban on individual and vehicle movement from 5pm to 4am, effective from July 16 to July 31.
Musandam Governorate is exempted from the closure of commercial activities and movement ban from immediate effect. However, entry to the governorate will be allowed only to those who have received at least one dose of vaccine. Visitors from outside the sultanate must have received two doses.
The Supreme Committee has also decided to remove Egypt from the list of countries from which arrivals are banned. Singapore, Indonesia, Iraq, Iran, Tunisia, Libya, Argentina, Colombia and Brunei Darussalam have been added to the travel-ban list. Anyone passing through these countries in the 14 days before their travel to Oman are also banned.
Additionally, the committee decided to close all land ports, wedding halls, and suspend events, sports activities, exhibitions and conferences.
To cater to tourists during the Khareef season in Dhofar, citizens and residents (aged 18 years and older) who have received at least one dose of COVID-19 vaccine which is approved in the sultanate can enter the governorate from 5pm on July 9.
‘Foreigners who have received two doses of approved vaccines will be allowed to enter the Dhofar. Hotels and furnished apartment facilities in the governorate will not exceed 50 per cent of their capacity, in addition to the necessity of strict adherence to all precautionary controls,’ the Supreme Committee said.
The Governorate of Musandam has been excluded from the closure decision due to a small number of inpatients in hospitals suffering from COVID-19.
