Institutional quarantine waived for vaccinated passengers from Oman to Bangladesh
Muscat - Vaccinated passengers travelling to Bangladesh are now exempted from institutional quarantine but must observe strict 14-day home quarantine. Those not inoculated need to complete a mandatory 14-day self-paid institutional quarantine at government approved hotels.
An earlier circular dated June 1, 2021, mandated three-day selfpaid institutional quarantine for passengers from Oman and Kuwait. Passengers from Belgium, Chili, Colombia, Costa Rica, Denmark and Greece were allowed entry into Bangladesh provided they undergo a 14-day selfpaid institutional quarantine.
A circular dated July 5 now exempts fully vaccinated passengers from 12 countries - Argentina, Brazil, Colombia, Costa Rica, Georgia, Kuwait, Malaysia, Maldives, Oman, UAE, UK, and Uruguay - from mandatory institutional quarantine.
Commenting on the new regulations, Anfal M P of World Air Travels and Tours said, “It is good news for Bangladeshi nationals. They need to pay only for tickets. Cost of hotel quarantine is a burden for almost all travellers.”
But Anfal noted that most passengers are younger than 45 and have got only a single dose of vaccine. “They will have to either wait till they get the second dose or pay for 14 days mandatory institutional quarantine which is an addition of around RO100 to ticket costs.”
S J Mohammed, a supermarket supervisor, welcomed the new regulations even though he’s only taken one dose and eagerly awaiting the second. “Home quarantine is better than institutional quarantine any day. Besides saving money, it’s also safer at home.”
