200 medics attend MoH conference on enhanced recovery
Muscat - A virtual conference recently organised by the Ministry of Health (MoH) gained overwhelming response with the participation of around 200 medical practitioners and associates including some from foreign countries to deliver on ‘ enhanced recovery after surgery’.
The ministry, represented by the Supportive Services Department of the Directorate General of Specialised Medical Care, organised the conference titled ‘Enhanced Recovery after Surgery & Applying it in the Sultanate’s Hospitals’ bringing together physicians, surgeons, anaesthetists, nurses and paramedical groups from the sultanate and abroad to highlight the enhanced recovery principles during and after surgery.
It also familiarised the participants with the experience of experts in applying the recovery principles and the challenges that the experts were facing.
The conference also discussed the national guidelines in applying the quick recovery principles after surgery in the sultanate in order to adopt these guidelines as a manual at the central level in the Ministry of Health. The event also touched upon the central manual for enhanced recovery after surgery that has been prepared by the Supportive Services Department for adoption.
In line with the tenth five-year plan and as part of its future agenda, the ministry is working to apply the enhanced recovery principles to all surgeries at all government hospitals.
