Van der Dussen ton stuns Pakistan; India, England triumph

Dubai, UAE - India, England, Afghanista­n and South Africa all registered wins in the second set of warm-up games of the day ahead of the Super 12 stage of the ICC Men's T20 World Cup 2021 on Wednesday.

Russie van der Dussen hit a stunning unbeaten ton (101) off 51 deliveries as South Africa pulled off an extraordin­ary run chase to beat Pakistan as they scored 190 for four. Van der Dussen and David Miller slammed 22 off the final over to seal the win off the very last ball of the match. Earlier, Pakistan, asked to bat first in Abu Dhabi, scored 186 for six.

Afghanista­n stifle West indies

Afghanista­n won the toss and opted to bat in their warm-up fixture against the West Indies in Dubai. And the decision paid immediate dividends as the opening batters brought up the 50 partnershi­p inside five overs, with a true display of hitting inside the powerplay as they ended with 189 for five.

And Afghanista­n’s amazing day continued with the ball as Mohammad Nabi bowled through his full allocation of overs straight up to register extraordin­ary figures of four overs, two maidens, three wickets for two runs asWest Indies was restricted to 133 for five.

Second consecutiv­e victory for India

India cruised to back-to-back wins in the warm-up games. All the Indian batters contribute­d to the eight-wicket win, with Rohit Sharma leading the way with a fantastic half-century (60) as they chased down Australia's 152 for five with 13 balls remaining. India spun a web around the Australian top-order before Steve Smith's half-century (57) and Marcus Stoinis' unbeaten 25-ball 41 propelled Australia to 152 for five. R Ashwin took two for eight while Ravindra Jadeja, Rahul Chahar and Bhuvneshwa­r Kumar claimed a wicket apiece.

England survive scare from New Zealand

New Zealand recovered from 103 for nine to take their game against England to the last over, but fell short by 13 runs in the end in Abu Dhabi. England scored 163 for six but then bowled out the Kiwis for 150 in 19.2 overs. Jos Buttler top-scored with 73 while Jonny Bairstow made 30.
