Harvard Business School Club hosts president of Oman Investment Authority

-

Abdulsalam al Murshidi, president of Oman Investment Authority, explained that in the world of business and economy, we must learn from great leaders who have achieved significant success. Leadership is the beating heart of all organisations and some have tended to define it as a set of personal qualities, while others have tended to define it as a mandate and official authority, while other studies state that leadership is the behaviour, interaction and influence one has on others. This was touched upon during Murshidi's speech while hosting an open dialogue session at a gathering organised by Harvard Business School Club of the GCC,represented by its chair Sulaiman bin Hamad al Harthi.

Murshidi added, “We often meet and rave about the success of projects that we have worked on, whether in governmental or semi-governmental institutions, but we rarely talk about the people behind those successes that are comparable if not superior to the hidden soldiers behind the scenes of global success stories.

“We make a continuous effort to vigilantly study global experiences that give us ideas and inspire us in the same context via looking at the mechanism and vision through which the successful steps were implemented so that we can apply the same in our institutions, to attract, develop, train, and retain talented people to create leaders for the future.

Our investment strategy depends, above all, on the competence and experience of our employees, who are one of the most important factors for our success. Whoever has the qualities of a leader, has a passion for change.”

The Harvard Business School Club for the GCC is lead by its Chairman, Mr Sulaiman Hamad Al Harthi, the CEO of Alizz Islamic Bank.
