Duplantis wins indoors at Doha Diamond League
Bayern Munich confirm Lewandowski wants to leave
Berlin, Germany - Robert Lewandowski banged in his 35th league goal on the final day of the Bundesliga season Saturday as Bayern Munich confirmed their top-scoring striker wants to leave, amid reports he could join Barcelona this summer.
Lewandowki scored for the Bundesliga champions in a 2-2 draw at Wolfsburg.
Bayern sports director Hasan Salihamidzic insists Lewandowski will play for them next season, pointing out: "'Lewy' has a contract until June 2023."
But German media outlets claim the 33-year-old has refused to sign an extension and wants to join Barcelona for next season.
Salihamidzic confirmed that Lewandowksi wants to leave. "During conversations, he informed me that he did not want to accept our offer to extend the contract and would like to leave," he said. A Lewandowski header from a Thomas Mueller cross put Bayern 2-0 up after Josip Stanisic netted his first Bundesliga goal.
Erling Haaland signed off his final appearance for secondplaced Borussia Dortmund in a 21 home win over Hertha Berlin.
Doha, Qatar - Armand Duplantis took shelter from the storm on Saturday but could not get close to a new pole vault world record when the Doha Diamond League contest was moved indoors because of high winds.
The 22-year-old US-born Swedish vaulter cleared 6.02 metres to win the first Diamond League event of the season after the pole vault was postponed for a day and moved into the Aspire Dome because of the dangerous gusts.
Duplantis, who set two world records in two weeks in March, taking the new high to 6.20m, made three failed attempts at 6.12m.
He is still the first to clear six metres in Doha and finished far ahead of Americans K.C. Lightfoot and Chris Nilsen, Belgium's Ben Broeders and France's Valentin Lavillenie, who each vaulted 5.71m.
"It has been a crazy day or so, I am just glad we were able to jump indoors," said Duplantis, who started at 5.61m after the other nine competitors came in at 5.41m.
French vaulter Renaud Lavillenie, the 2012 Olympic champion with a personal best of 6.16m, and Poland's Piotr Lisek, who has cleared 6.0m, both failed with three attempts at 5.71m.
