Al Bustan trains managers in leadership skills

-

Muscat - Al Bustan Palace, a Ritz-Carlton Hotel, organised a one-day DISC assessment training programme for its managers on Tuesday.

DISC is a personal assessment tool to help improve teamwork, communication and productivity in the workplace. The model describes four basic styles: D, I, S and C, which stand for Dominance, Influence, Steadiness and Conscientiousness.

According to Vanessa Fernandez, partner for MENA, Everything DiSC by Wiley, this was the first time a DISC assessment programme was conducted in Oman. “The programme is used by 70 per cent of Fortune 500 companies, and very common in Dubai and

Saudi Arabia.”

Vanessa informed that she works with companies on workplace management and leadership skills programmes. “The purpose of this training is to provide participants with techniques to improve self awareness and awareness of others in order to be more effective in the workplace and contribute to a positive workplace culture.

“As a result of this training, the managers learn how to be better managers, how to motivate their teams, how to direct and delegate and develop talent. Participants build key social and emotional skills, and improve workplace satisfaction, results and relationships through DISC assessment training.”

Marta Martin, general manager of the hotel, said, “As a company and as a brand, the most important thing for us are our ladies and gentlemen. Our value is our team. This is one of the initiatives that will help our team become stronger and it will make them think about things differently and take the hotel to the next level.”

Safa al Balushi, trainer at Al Bustan Palace and one of the managers who attended the programme, said, “The training will help me have a healthy relationship and communication with my team and colleagues, while developing my leadership style and skills.”

Everything DiSC by Wiley is based in London and has partners around the world.
