Iranian delegation on visit to boost trade ties

A high-level Iranian delegation visiting the sultanate met senior ministry and Oman Chamber of Commerce and Industry (OCCI) officials on Tuesday.

Meetings held sought to boost bilateral trade and political relations between the two neighbours.

Redha bin Juma al Saleh, chairman of the Board of Directors of OCCI, received Alireza Peyman-Pak, Deputy Minister for Industry, Mining and Trade of Iran, at the chamber’s headquarte­rs.

“The meetings aimed to strengthen relations and trade exchange between the two countries. We also want to discuss building new partnershi­ps that accelerate trade and investment exchange,” Saleh said.

He added that the volume of trade between Oman and Iran at the end of June 2020 was US$306.43mn. Of this, Omani exports were worth US$175.2mn.

“The Iranian side is looking forward to increasing trade exchange between the two friendly countries, in addition to developing relations that will help the establishm­ent of joint projects,” Peyman-Pak said.

He added that Iran is working to solve the challenges faced by Omani businessme­n in Iran.

Peyman-Pak was also received by H E Saeed bin Hammoud al Ma’awali, Minister of Transport, Communicat­ions and Informatio­n Technology, and H E Dr Saleh Said Masan, Undersecre­tary for Commerce and Industry in the Ministry of Commerce, Industry and Investment Promotion.

Additional­ly, H E Sheikh Khalifa Ali al Harthy, Undersecre­tary for Diplomatic Affairs in Foreign Ministry, received Ali Reza Enayati, Assistant Foreign Minister of Iran.

The two sides reviewed joint relations and ways of enhancing these in several fields to serve the mutual interests of the two countries.
