Show jumping, drones and samurai shows wow Muscat Nights visitors

Although the activities of Muscat Nights were suspended on Friday due to rain, the festival sites witnessed a good turnout on Saturday.

The festival began on January 19 and will continue till February 4.

An official of Muscat Municipali­ty said, “Muscat Nights saw a good number of visitors at its four venues that are offering a wide variety of activities.”

On Saturday, Oman Convention and Exhibition Centre hosted renowned Syrian composer and singer Tarek Alarabi Tourgane and his family - Muhammad, Dima and Tala – who celebrated their childhood memories in a concert.

Tourgane and his family are counted among the most popular artistic families in the Arab world best known for composing theme songs for animated series.

The Muscat Municipali­ty official said, “Their presentati­ons are humorous and fun to watch. They tour extensivel­y with the aim of bringing back childhood memories with sweet melodies and words that reflect the meaning of life, friendship and family.”

Show jumping championsh­ip

The final of Muscat Nights Show Jumping Championsh­ip was held at Qurum Natural Park on Saturday. Muhammad al Hadhrami of Royal Cavalry won the championsh­ip. The event was a show of equestrian skills that thrilled visitors.

“The four-day championsh­ip is counted among the local show jumping league competitio­ns,” the Muscat Mu

nicipality official said.

Drone shows

Qurum Natural Park also witnessed drone shows which dazzled visitors. Drones flew in different formations filling the night sky with shimmering lights.

Other attraction­s at Qurum Natural Park included activities by the lakeside, boat shows and helium balloon displays.

Samurai show

Activities at Oman Automobile Associatio­n included a theatrical samurai performanc­e in a Japanese Village set up on the venue grounds.

The activities of the Japanese Village started on January 24 and will continue till February 4. Kimonos are available to visitors for hire in the village for photo ops wearing the traditiona­l Japanese dress.
