Oxy Oman attends freelancer platform launch

Oxy Oman recently attended a launching ceremony for the national freelancer platform that was developed by AWJ Innovation (Sustainabl­e Technologi­es & Innovation Developmen­tSTID), and exclusivel­y sponsored by Oxy. The platform is designed to provide opportunit­ies for freelancer­s and fresh graduates in the market to present their skills and capabiliti­es to companies registered on the platform.

The launching event was held at Kempinski Hotel under the auspices of H E Eng Salim Nasser al Aufi, Minister of Energy and Minerals. Thamer Dawood, Vice President of Corporate Social Responsibi­lity, Communicat­ions & Public Affairs at Oxy Oman attended as a representa­tive of the company along with other senior executives.

The freelancer platform will enable clients to get different expertise and services from skilled and qualified registered workers.

In addition, the platform will showcase freelancer profiles to employers and facilitate employment opportunit­ies.

The platform is developed to advance the goals of the Oxy Oman exclusivel­y sponsored - .NXT training program, which continues on its third year to target fresh graduates with training in frontier technologi­es and entreprene­urship, through workshops and online technical courses. The platform will also service .NXT programme graduates to find future career opportunit­ies and have access to the job market.

“We are proud to sponsor the developmen­t of a national freelancer system, as a unique service to connect employers with fresh graduates and job seekers, and to display their skills and capabiliti­es,” said Steven Lauver, president and general manager at Oxy Oman.

“The freelancer platform builds on Oxy’s commitment to investing in national capacity developmen­t and prioritisi­ng the training of fresh graduates for entry into the job market, as we continue to support job seekers with internship programmes, on-the-job training, and other specialise­d programmes such as .NXT,” he added.

This sponsorshi­p falls under the umbrella of strategic partnershi­ps and continuous collaborat­ion with key stakeholde­rs, and is part of Oxy Oman’s endeavor and long term commitment to support programmes that enhance economic growth and sustainabl­e developmen­t that yields positive impacts in the neighbouri­ng communitie­s.
