Bids invited to develop aviation strategy for 2040
Oman is looking to develop National Aviation Strategy 2040 to meet the current and future demands of the aviation sector.
To this end, the Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) has invited bids from international consultants to develop a national aviation strategy up to 2040.
The tender documents were available until January 31 and bid submission closes on February 28, according to a public tender notice.
‘The Government of the Sultanate of Oman, represented by the Civil Aviation Authority desires to develop National Aviation Strategy 2040 to meet the current and future demands of aviation sector services. The tender is presented as a request to provide consultancy services to the client for developing the national aviation strategy,’ CAA stated.
The first workshop to discuss the National Aviation Strategy 2040 was held by CAA in December 2022, as part of plans to raise the quality of services along with developing the economy.
The workshop, held in the presence of representatives of partners in the aviation sector, discussed the strategy development mechanism, in line with the objectives of Oman Vision 2040.
The development of the 2040 strategy comes on the heels of the National Aviation Strategy 2030, which was launched in February 2020.
Under its plans to open up the sector for local and international investments, CAA is considering granting usufruct rights to investors to use land and buildings owned by CAA for aviation-related activities. In this regard, the authority plans to explore the potential of granting concessions in the management and operations of local airports and aviation-related services to private operators and investors.
Among the major projects envisioned for implementation as part of the National Aviation Strategy 2030 was an Airport City at Muscat International Airport.
