Industrial cities attract 300 projects, Ro300mn in 2022
Total volume of investments exceed Ro7bn; over 19,000 Omanis work in industrial cities
The industrial cities spread across Oman in the Public Establishment for Industrial Estates – Madayn - are witnessing a boom in investments with over Ro300mn pumped in 2022.
Madayn attracted more than 300 new projects last year to its industrial cities with Ro300mn in investments, taking the total volume to over Ro7bn by the end of 2022.
Hamad bin Hamoud al Qasabi, Acting CEO of Madayn, said that due to increasing demand of investors to set up projects in the industrial cities, the volume of investments continues to grow.
Qasabi informed that Madayn is currently working on development projects in all of its industrial cities, for which more than Ro120mn has been allocated. “Some of these projects are nearing completion and others are in the implementation stages, including the Ibri Industrial City and the Mahas Industrial City in the wilayat of Khasab. These will contribute to the development of the economies of the governorates of Dhahirah and Musandam by providing a conducive environment for various business activities and providing job opportunities.”
Two other projects, in the governorates of North Sharqiyah and Dhofar, are ready for implementation. “Procedures related to that are now being finalised.”
Madayn is also working to improve the services it offers to investors.
“We have completed the opening of ‘Masar’ centres in all industrial cities and are working on developing the digital transformation system and automating other services.”
Through an integrated, onestop solution service system, Masar service centres are designed to provide all of Madayn’s services to investors – from receiving new investment applications to signing final contracts.
Each centre acts as the focal point for Madayn investors seeking to finalise all their required permits, approvals and licences.
Qasabi further informed that Madayn has created new spaces in the industrial cities in Sur, Nizwa and Buraimi, while development of Phase 4 of Raysut Industrial City has been completed.
“The national workforce is now more than 19,000, distributed over various industrial cities,” he added.
