Oman Aviation Academy opens headquarters in Sohar Airport
Oman Aviation Academy held a ceremony to mark the opening of its headquarters in Sohar Airport on Thursday.
The site covers an area of 70,000sqm and includes several facilities, including a flight simulators building, an aircraft maintenance hangar, a control tower, aircraft parking lots, and an aircraft crossing corridor.
The ceremony was held under the auspices of H E Said Hamoud al Ma’awali, Minister of Transport, Communications and Information Technology.
The academy offers training to Omani nationals in the aviation sector to help them enter the labour market. It also attracts trainees from abroad and provides high-level practice in the areas of civil and military aviation in the Middle East and Africa region.

interest to businessmen.
He added that the academy provides maintenance services for the facility’s aircrafts and as well as individual owners and companies.
The academy has 16 aircraft parking lots of different sizes and purposes, Balushi informed. “This will contribute to the development and revitalisation of the public and private aviation sectors in Oman.”
The academy is the first accredited institution for civil aviation training in Oman. Its training programmes include Air Transport Pilot Licence, Military Aviation Training and Personal Pilot Licence.
The academy currently has 100 trainees and the first batch is scheduled to graduate in March 2023.
The academy has a fleet of 13 training aircraft and three simulators equipped with the latest flight training devices and equipment to provide top quality standards in the field of civil and military aviation training.
