Pakistan School Muscat win Oman Women’s League title

Muscat, Oman: Pakistan School Muscat (PSM) defeated Indian Social Club (ISC) by six wickets in the final of the Oman Cricket Women’s League powered by TM Done.

Asked to bat first, ISC made 108 for the loss of four wickets in the stipulated 20 overs.

Suhaani Dadhwal (30) and Geetha Jagdish (27) were their mainstay and the two were involved in a crucial 69-run partnershi­p for the second wicket.

Sani E Zehra, Sameera Khan and Hina Javed picked up a wicket each for PSM.

In response, Hina Javed (25) and skipper Sameera Khan (32) were in fine form and were backed by Hira Javed (17) as they reached the target in 17.1 overs. Trupti Pawde, Flavia

Dsouza and Sushma Shetty bagged a wicket each.

Oman Cricket’s Vice Chairman Paul Sheridan, Women’s Co-ordinator and Board Advisor Vaishali Jesrani and Chief Developmen­t Officer Duleep Mendis were present at the post-match presentati­on ceremony.

Jesrani congratula­ted both teams for the fine performanc­e: “I would firstly thank Oman Cricket and its board to back and help develop women’s cricket in Oman.

I would also like to thank the participat­ing teams, players and management for showing great competitiv­eness in every game.

“I congratula­te PSM Women and ISM Women for their podium finish. We are planning eight teams in the Women’s Domestic League in the coming years and we expect each and everyone to contribute to be able to play ICC tournament­s in the near future.

We are also looking to play more cricket through the calendar year and look forward to your participat­ion.”

Sameera Khan won the player of the match as well as the best bowler of the tournament and received the award from Mendis.

ISC’S Nikitha Jagdish was the best batter, while Hina Javed was the player of the tournament.

Paul Sheridan handed the champions trophy to PSM skipper Sameera Khan and the runners-up trophy to ISC skipper Trupti Pawde.
