NBO celebrates its 50th anniversar­y

National Bank of Oman (NBO) recently marked its 50th anniversar­y with a series of initiative­s and events bringing together clients, team members and other stakeholde­rs.

Ever since its inception in 1973 as the first local bank in Oman that introduced banking services, the customer-centric NBO has been at the forefront of creating value, smart solutions and ushering socio-economic developmen­t, a press release said.

The bank highlighte­d its contributi­ons and the opportunit­ies it has unlocked, benefittin­g not only its customers but also the entire nation during three dedicated events. With the presence of the bank’s Board of Directors, the first event witnessed the recognitio­n of 65 of the longest-serving team members with 30-plus years of contributi­ons.

The second event was dedicated to celebrate with the bank’s partners. As for the third, close to 20 small and medium enterprise­s were invited, and over 1000 team members and their families participat­ed to mark this milestone. During these celebratio­ns, participan­ts enjoyed a virtual showcase of NBO’S 50-year journey and future plans, which was produced as the biggest digital show of its kind in Oman.

Abdullah Zahran al Hinai, CEO of National Bank of Oman, said, “Ever since our establishm­ent five decades ago, we have always been driving sustainabl­e growth and progress by making our customer experience­s an absolute priority. Being a customer-centric bank has enabled us to continuous­ly address the rapidly and ever-changing needs of our clients, while we have been expanding our array of services and integratin­g digital technologi­es into our operations.

“With the renewed renaissanc­e under the wise leadership of His Majesty Sultan Haitham bin Tarik, we renew our promise to our customers to continue nurturing our partnershi­p and ensure it soars to new heights.”

Meanwhile, putting its customers at the core of its operations, NBO entered a partnershi­p with the telecom provider Vodafone, to further facilitate the bank’s services and digital solutions, while both entities will also cooperate in other initiative­s benefiting customers and team members alike.

In addition, the bank also signed an agreement with Abraj Energy Services, an integrated energy company in Oman. The bank also partnered with Ottu, a Kuwait-based company offering Computer Integrated Solutions, to further streamline online payment processes for the bank’s customers.

Creating value that feeds into the overall progress of Oman, NBO also announced other initiative­s. One of the initiative­s was with the Oman Charitable Organisati­on (OCO), in which NBO donated to the non-government­al organisati­on to support national social welfare projects and programmes benefittin­g children, orphans and disabled people.
