Tax Authority raises awareness on compliance
As part of its remit to spread awareness on taxation, the Tax Authority continues to visit different governorates to educate people and corporates on the need to understand the tax structure in Oman and the importance of following related laws.
Last week, the authority launched a campaign in Al Wusta, about which Abdul Aziz al Mukhaini, Director General of Tax Authority, said, “The initiative aims to enhance tax awareness and serve the largest segment of taxpayers in the governorate. The programme includes clearing all taxes for various types of transactions, assisting taxpayers fulfil their tax obligations and responding to their inquiries regarding taxes.”
The initiative also aims to increase awareness of the significance of submitting returns on time and raise tax compliance rate among taxpayers in order to avoid fines and legal accountability.

Specialists from the authority presented publications and tax law booklets on corporate income tax and value added tax (VAT) to educate taxpayers about the importance of tax compliance, following up their registration with the authority, updating their data, and submitting tax returns in a timely manner.
Also, during the awareness campaign, taxpayers were urged to use services provided through the authority’s e-services portal to facilitate easy clearance of their tax transactions.
He added that the Tax Authority is in constant cooperation with Oman Chamber of Commerce and Industry to spread tax awareness among various categories of entrepreneurs and facilitate administrative procedures, whether through seminars, working papers or direct meetings across all governorates.
“We also urge taxpayers to monitor bulletins issued through the authority’s social media platforms and the media to know the latest developments in the tax laws and regulations,” Mukhaini added.
