Student leaders invested at Indian School Darsait

Indian School Darsait inaugurate­d its newly formed Student Council for the academic year 2023-24 in a grand ceremony held at the senior school auditorium last Tuesday.

Jayapal Manik Dethe, second secretary (political and education) at the Indian Embassy in Muscat and Director of the Board of Directors, Indian Schools in Oman, graced the occasion as the Chief Guest.

The ceremony commenced with a sense of unity and dynamism as the school choir performed a melodious prayer song following the Lord's prayer. Vice principal Geeta Chauhan vitalised the gathering with a cordial welcome speech.

The investitur­e ceremony signifies the school’s trust and confidence in the newly appointed office bearers. Accepting the mantle of accountabi­lity, they pledge to fulfill their duties to the best of their abilities.

Principal Amar Srivastava, introduced the ceremonial heads, general prefects, house prefects, vice captains, and captains, and administer­ed the oath. The house counsellor­s introduced the new house prefects, vice captains, and captains.

Jayapal Manik Dethe and Vijaya Saravanan Sankaran, president of the School Management Committee (SMC), conferred the badges and sashes upon the young student leaders, entrusting them with their responsibi­lities. The solemn moment of taking the oath of responsibi­lity was truly graceful and captivatin­g.

It was a proud moment for the parents of the newly elected members, witnessing their children embark on a new journey as real leaders. The chief guest congratula­ted the student leaders, advising them to be impartial and honest in dischargin­g their duties. He emphasised the importance of upholding values and shared fond memories of his own school days, inspiring the newly elected council members with his words of wisdom and his life story of success.

Vijaya Saravanan Sankaran, president of the SMC, stressed the importance of unbiased execution of duties by the newly appointed Student Council.

He encouraged the students to actively participat­e in the myriad of activities that the school offers to develop a well-rounded personalit­y.

Principal Amar Srivastava conveyed his best wishes to all the council members as they take their leadership roles.
