CC Energy joins Tejarah Talks on net zero emissions

Walter Simpson, managing director of CC Energy Development (CCED), the value-driven company delivering long-term growth to Oman’s hydrocarbon sector, took part in a panel discussion entitled ‘Oman’s Journey towards Net Zero: An Environment for Enterprise’.

The event was part of the Tejarah Talks platform, a series of discussions organised by Oman Business Forum in association with the Oman Ministry of Commerce, Industry and Investment Promotion.

Tejarah Talks brings together experts and thought leaders from across different industries in Oman, and enables them to share ideas in areas related to Oman’s economy.

The recent session focused on the transition of Oman to net zero greenhouse gas emissions by the year 2050 and its implications for corporations, including small and medium enterprises. The panel discussion was moderated by H H Sayyed Dr Adham al Said who is the Co-founder of The Firm for Business and Economic Consulting in Oman.

Walter Simpson, Managing Director of CC Energy Development said, “Our industry is committed to contributing to Oman’s journey towards a low carbon future and its transition to a netzero economy by 2050. Through our gas-to-power project, CC Energy Development will be making a major step towards reaching zero emissions from gas flaring by 2027.”

He added, “We are committed to reducing our carbon footprint, using modern technologies and optimising operations to achieve this important objective for Oman.”

CCED operates in Blocks 3 and 4 of Oman, exploring and producing oil and gas as a part of its commitment to the nation’s economic development and prosperity.

Through its gas-to-power project, the company started using its associated gas effectively by generating electricity to power its field production assets, such as wells and pumps. This will allow it to replace most of the diesel that is currently used for those purposes.
