32nd COMEX focuses on boosting digital investment in Oman
The 32nd edition of the communications and information technology exhibition COMEX 2023 kicked off on Monday at the Oman Convention and Exhibition Centre with spotlight on digital investment.
The opening ceremony was held under the patronage of H H Sayyid Marwan bin Turki al Said, Governor of Dhofar.
The four-day exhibition aims to boost the concept of digital investment in the sultanate. Over 150 local and international establishments concerned with information technology and communications in the region are taking part in it.
“This year, COMEX focuses on boosting digital investment in Oman and promoting available opportunities in major companies in the market,” said H E Eng Said bin Hamoud bin Said al Ma’awali, Minister of Transport, Communications and Information Technology.
According to H E Ma’awali, the exhibition will witness the inauguration of the first forum for digital proficiency in the government sector. The forum aims to highlight the efforts made by government institutions in the field of digital transformation, and to learn about the best regional and global practices, in addition to exploring the future to benefit from innovative solutions.
The Minister informed that the National Programme for the Digital Economy includes eight ambitious and serious executive programmes aimed at creating a thriving digital economy and increasing its contribution to the gross domestic product.
These executive programmes include projects such as government digital transformation, cybersecurity industry, digital industry, artificial intelligence and advanced technologies, space, infrastructure, technofinance, and e-commerce, he explained.
COMEX 2023 is being organised by OITE in cooperation with the Ministry of Transport, Communications and Information Technology and the implementation follow-up unit of Oman Vision 2040.
