OHA signs Badr Al Samaa as medical partner for men’s junior Asia Cup in Dhofar
Oman Hockey Association (OHA) signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with Badr Al Samaa Group of Hospitals making the latter official medical partner for the 10-nation Dhofar Municipality Men’s Hockey Junior Asia Cup - 2023.
The ninth edition of the Men’s Junior Asia Cup is set to take place in Salalah, Oman. The event will start on May 23 and conclude on June 1.
The official MOU signing ceremony was done at the headquarters of Badr Al Samaa Group of Hospitals in Ruwi, a release stated.
On behalf of Badr Al Samaa, the MOU was signed by its managing directors Abdul Latheef and Dr P A Mohammed, and executive director Moideen Bilal.
Dr Marwan al Juma, president Oman Hockey Association, signed the MOU from the association's side in presence of other top officials from the two groups.
In a joint statement, Abdul Latheef and Dr P A Mohammed hailed the initiatives taken by OHA to develop hockey in Oman and congratulated them for hosting numerous international hockey events for top repute. They assured all possible medical support in all the events of the association.
“The Asian Junior Competitions aim to set a benchmark, creating a significant exposure and developmental opportunity for our young athletes in Asia. We aspire our youth to experience only the best,” said OHA chairman Dr Marwan al Juma. He appreciated continuous efforts and support of Badr Al Samaa Group of Hospitals in ensuring safety of the players.
Badr Al Samaa's executive director Moiden Bilal said that the association with sporting events, like this, helps Badr Al Samaa spread the awareness and importance of good health and fitness. He said the fitness and safety of players is paramount in the success of any sport and Badr Al Samaa takes us all initiatives to ensure the safety of players.
Ten junior national teams from around Asia will participate in this tournament. The contestants include Bangladesh, Chinese Taipei, India, Japan, Korea, Malaysia, Oman, Pakistan, Thailand and Uzbekistan.
Top three teams from the title tournament, apart from Malaysia which has already qualified as the host, will qualify for the FIH Men’s Junior Hockey World Cup 2023.
