Oman takes part in Arab Health Ministers’ meeting

The Sultanate of Oman, represente­d by the Ministry of Health, took part on Sunday in the 59th regular session of the Arab Health Ministers, headed by Algeria. The session was held in Geneva, Switzerlan­d, prior to the 76th session of the World Health Assembly participat­ed by the Arab health ministers.

The meeting was attended by H E Dr Hilal bin Ali al Sabti, Minister of Health, along with H E Idris Abdul Rahman al Khanjari, Permanent Representa­tive of Oman to the United Nations Office and Dr Ahmed Salim al Mandhari, WHO Regional Director for the Eastern Mediterran­ean Region.

The meeting touched upon several topics, including the topics submitted by the Executive Office such as the health conditions in the occupied Palestinia­n territory, including East Jerusalem and the occupied Syrian Golan, and adopting the Arab strategy for a health-friendly budget.

In addition, the meeting highlighte­d the Arab Pharmaceut­ical Industries and Medical Supplies Conference and Exhibition, which the Kingdom of Bahrain will host in December this year.

The meeting also approved the unified word project for the Council of Arab Health Ministers and the activation of the pink portfolio initiative for the health of Arab women.

Furthermor­e, the meeting discussed the strategy of improving the women’s, children’s and adolescent­s’ health in the Arab.

It is worth mentioning that the meeting approved new formation of the executive office of the Arab Health Ministers Council with the membership of Algeria, Saudi Arabia, Iraq and Sultanate of Oman.
