Muscat Municipality unveils Mu’een Whatsapp service
Muscat Municipality launched a Whatsapp service called ‘Mu’een’ at Oman's official technology show COMEX 2023 on Tuesday. This innovative service aims to streamline communication channels and simplify procedures between beneficiaries and the municipality.
An official at Muscat Municipality told Muscat Daily, “We are proud to introduce Mu’een, a trial version of our Whatsapp platform that offers automated responses and five key services. These services include pest control reports, renewal of building permits, company registration, parking ticket cancellation requests, and reports related to electronic services."
According to the official, the municipality has made significant progress in merging or eliminating over 30 services. Work is currently underway to develop a unified system encompassing all sectors related to municipal work. “This unified system will contribute to smart governance, efficient management and sustainable practices. Moreover, it will be linked to the broader smart city project and supported by artificial intelligence technologies.”
Since implementation of digital transformation of services, human errors have considerably decreased, while the speed of obtaining licences has increased remarkably by over 200 per cent, according to the official.
COMEX 2023, from May 22 to 25, has attracted participants from both the public and private sectors to showcase their electronic services and technological advancements in various fields.
