PDO hosts conference of Gas Producers Association
Muscat – The 29th annual conference and exhibition of the Gas Procedures Association – GCC Chapter kicked-off on Tuesday under the patronage of H E Dr Abdullah bin Ali al Amri, chairman of the Environment Authority, with the participation of executives, engineers, and experts in the gas sector at regional and global levels.
Hosted by Petroleum Development Oman (PDO), the conference is being held at the Oman Convention and Exhibition Center (OCEC) for the period from May 21 to May 25.
Under the theme 'Expanding possibilities towards excellence in the gas value chain', this year's conference of the Gas Procedures Association brings together more than 700 participants to exchange experiences, knowledge, and best practices related to developing the gas industry's value.
The welcome speech at the inauguration of the conference was delivered by the chairman of the Gas Processors Association – GCC Chapter Hamad al Zuwayer, while the conference's keynote speech was delivered by PDO'S gas director Moutaz al
Riyami.
The opening ceremony also included a panel discussion titled 'Future of gas in energy transition' followed by the awards ceremony for the winning technical papers in the 28th edition of the event hosted last year in Kuwait.
The accompanying exhibition, in which more than 21 local and global institutions participated, was also opened on Tuesday.
Speaking at the event, Riyami
said, “This year’s conference themes and technical papers have been carefully curated to address emerging challenges and opportunities within the gas value chain. Our aim is to enable the highest possible value while supporting our journey towards becoming more carbon and costcompetitive in a sustainable manner.”
The Gas Producers Association – GCC Chapter was founded
in 1993 and is based in Bahrain. It operates under the umbrella of the Gas Producers Association in the United States, an organisation with a century-long history.
With approximately 30 member companies, including PDO, the GCC branch is focused on advancing performance, optimising operational procedures, and strengthening various health, safety, environment, and technology aspects.
