1,630 rescued, 630 evacuated: ROP
Efforts are ongoing to provide aid, organise traffic, ensure security and restore normalcy in affected areas

Royal Oman Police (ROP) responded to numerous emergency calls over the last four days related to situations resulting from heavy rains, including vehicles swept away in wadis, flooding of houses, requests for help, and fire outbreaks.
In a statement, ROP said its efforts led to the rescue of over 1,630 individuals and evacuation of more than 630 people. Additionally, police aviation units conducted 50 sorties and 152 rescue operations in various governorates, providing assistance to those in need and transporting medical teams.
On Wednesday, Royal Air Force of Oman evacuated 89 people and patients in North Batinah, South Batinah and Al Wusta.
The heavy rains resulted in the loss of 19 lives, with four individuals still missing. Brig Gen Mohammed bin Nasser al Kindi, Director General of Operations at ROP, emphasised the ongoing efforts to provide aid, organise traffic, ensure security, and restore normalcy in affected areas in close collaboration with other public and private agencies.
Brig Gen Kindi highlighted the tireless efforts of ROP personnel across all governorates, operating around the clock to deliver swift assistance in coordination with relevant authorities. He thanked citizens and residents for their cooperation and assistance in saving lives, commending their national spirit in dealing with the challenging weather conditions. In light of the ongoing situation, he urged the public to exercise caution, particularly around water bodies.
