Oman’s Renaissanc­e focus on human developmen­t hailed

MUSCAT — Abdulaziz bin Sulaiman al Turki, the Ambassador of Saudi Arabia to the Sultanate, lauded the depth of relations between Muscat and Riyadh, noting that the high level of understand­ing during the 4-decade Omani renaissanc­e led to the developmen­t of co-operation that brought benefits to the people of Oman and Saudi Arabia and helped reinforce the GCC march.

Al Turki pointed out that Oman-saudi relations have a special nature due to the common factors of religion, history, culture and kinship. The two countries share identical features, including warm relationsh­ip between the leaders and their peoples, thanks to the farsighted visions of His Majesty Sultan Qaboos and King Abdullah of Saudi Arabia whose wisdom passed the test of time, said Al Turki.

The ambassador expressed his admiration for the Sultanate’s renaissanc­e which, he said, has covered all walks of life and focused on the developmen­t of human talents and potential. In particular, Oman’s prudent investment policies, coupled by the country’s diversifie­d natural attraction­s, helped build a modern state in record time, Al Turki said.

Speaking in detail about co-operation between the two neighbouri­ng countries, Al Turki said that they share a promising future and there is scope for exchange in trade and tourism areas after the completion of the Rub-el- Khali border checkpoint, which will facilitate the travel of tourists in each other’s countries.

Al Turki stressed that the stand of the Sultanate and Saudi Arabia on various issues are identical and form a cornerston­e for the establishm­ent of peace and stability. He hailed the co-operation of both countries in reinforcin­g security at regional and internatio­nal levels.

Speaking about the Gulf Co-operation Council (GCC), Al Turki said that the GCC is set to develop into a more comprehens­ive associatio­n of states.

He referred to King Abdullah call for firmness in addressing the common challenges and sticking to the principle of unity.
