MUSCAT — HSBC has picked up three awards for its regional research business when it was selected to be the Best Research House — Economics, Best Research House in the Oil and Natural Gas Sector, and Best Research House in the Real Estate Sector — all in Middle East sector. Following a vote from over 500 regional clients, HSBC was named “Best Research House — Economics” in the Middle East for the second year running by Euromoney magazine, one of the most important Global financial magazines. Our clients tell us that now, more than ever, they need our economic research to guide them through the potential business impact of events. And, as our dedicated research teams are located on the ground it means that HSBC’S MENA focus is all the more informed.”

Simon Williams, Chief Economist, HSBC MENA said: “We are very grateful to all of the institutions who took the time to vote in this important survey. This award is great news for the MENA team and shows that our clients appreciate our market leading research.”

Respondents were asked to nominate their top three research providers in order of quality by research sector. Research providers received four points for a first placed nomination, three points for a second place nomination and two points for a third place nomination. These points were then totalled to give an overall score.

This award is the latest in a series of awards for HSBC’S research unit. In October, the IMF named HSBC Best Middle East Economics Research House in its 2011 Emerging Markets research awards.

In July HSBC was ranked Best Brokerage House in the Middle East and North Africa for the quality of its economics and equity research in the annual Extel Survey. Award winners are judged to be "best in class" for analytical rigour, and dedication to client service.
