To sketch Muscat buildings in km-long canvas

Under the auspices of the Embassy of Malaysia in Oman, the Malaysian Business and Profession­al Circle (MBC) will be organising the OmanMalays­ia Art Exhibition entitled, ‘Blended Echoes’ at the Opera Galleria — Royal Opera House Muscat from the September 9-11, 2015.

Mind Inspire Solutions has been appointed as the event organiser while the exhibition will be curated by Ibrahim Ghailani.

The exhibition will showcase more than 40 art pieces from establishe­d and emerging artists from Oman, namely Safiya al Bahlani, Abdul Majed Karoh, Abdul Kareem al Maimani, Dr Mona al Baiti, Maryam al Wahaibi and Abdullah al Busaidi. While the line-up of Malaysian artists consist of Amin Shahab, Sivarajah Natarajan, Nizar Kamarul Ariffin, Christine Das, Philip Wong and Poojitha Menon.

The opening night will be officiated by Janab al Sayyida Mayya bint Hamoud al Said at 7.30 pm on September 9 at the Opera Galleria (Upper Level), Royal Opera House Muscat.

Among those expected to attend the ceremony are representa­tives from government agencies, local art enthusiast­s, diplomats from the diplomatic corp as well as Malaysians in Oman. The exhibition will also be open for public viewing from September 1011, 2015 starting from 10 am until 10 pm

Umardin Hj Abdul Mutalib, Ambassador of Malaysia to Oman, who is also passionate about arts, has expressed delighted at the support from sponsors like Royal Opera House Muscat, Qatar Airways, Ford and Lincoln. He believes that the event is both an acknowledg­ement of the diplomatic and cultural ties between Malaysia and Oman.

The opening night will be enlivened with cultural performanc­es from Oman and Malaysia as well as the opportunit­y to meet all the artists whose paintings will be on display at the exhibition. Amin Shahab, an award winning Malaysian artist will also be doing a live demonstrat­ion by sketching famous buildings in Muscat in his one kilometre Canvas Painting of the World throughout the 3-day event.

On the sidelines are special promotions for visitors to the exhibition which include special flight rates. to Malaysia on Qatar Airways, special discounts for holiday packages by Majan Travel, weekend getaway for 4pax at the Best Western Premier Hotel Muscat and special Eid al Adha promotions by Ford and Lincoln. Exciting prizes also awaits lucky winner by simply dropping their business cards or submitting their details. The winners will be announced on Friday, September 11, 2015.
