India’s NDC team visits State Council

MUSCAT: The Indian delegation from the National Defence College (NDC) currently visiting the Sultanate was received at the State Council on Tuesday.

Yahya bin Rasheed al Jumaa, a bureau member, and Shaikh Nasser bin Said al Haddabi, a member of the legal committee at the State Council, greeted the delegation headed by Maj Gen Satinder Singh, a senior faculty member.

Yahya al Jumaa lauded the relations between the Sultanate and India. The two sides exchanged viewpoints and discussed matters of common concern.

While thanking the council members for their hospitalit­y, Maj Gen Satinder said they consider the visit very important for the current and future relations. He praised the developmen­ts witnessed by Oman under the leadership of His Majesty Sultan Qaboos.

The delegation went on a tour of the council. It witnessed a presentati­on made on the State Council by Altaf Omar al Mahroon, Director of Economic and Financial Research Department at the Research Centre of the Council.

The delegation learned about the functions and powers of the Council, and the tasks and responsibi­lities entrusted to it.

It gained an understand­ing of Oman’s parliament­ary process, organisati­onal set-up of the State Council and the various organs that are part of it.
