Omani women learn the basics of photography
August 23: Sur chapter of Omani Women Association has recently organised a workshop for its volunteers. The objective of the workshop was to acquaint women volunteers with the basic photography techniques. The workshop, which lasted for twodays, was part of Aakm project (Good Care Centre talent). Badr al Harthy, a professional photographer taught the basic elements of camera and photography to the audience.
Audience asked many questions about the different types of lenses and their usage with camera.
The experts replied to the queries at length and tried explaining the techniques. “After attending this workshop I come to know about the importance of the camera and the image. An image can convey a message to society. A camera is a great tool to create social realty,” said a woman volunteer keen on learning photography.
“I am happy to that Omani women are very progressive and they are ready to take up any responsibility according to the changing global scenario. I am really impressed to see their enthusiasm about learning a profession like photography, as it a highly-skilled job,” said Badr al Harthy.
At the end of the workshop certificates of participation were handed over to attendees. Badr al Harthy was presented a memento by the organisers.
“We are thankful to the organisers for such a wonderful workshop. This workshop enriched our knowledge about camera and the things camera can do. This is amazing experiences for us. I would share my knowledge with other Omani women, so that they can also be benefitted with our experience,” say a woman volunteer, working with the Sur chapter of Omani Women Association.
Omani Women’s Association is a non-profit organisation working for the advancement of Omani women in all social and cultural fields. It works in close coordination with ministry of social development.
