Agreement signed to provide prosthetic devices for disabled

MUSCAT: Oman India Fertilizer Company (OMIFCO) on Thursday signed three agreements in the Ministry of Social Developmen­t to provide prosthetic devices worth RO 50,000 for the Oman Associatio­n for the Disabled (OAD), Al Noor Associatio­n for the Blind (NAB) and the Omani Society for Hearing Impaired (OSHI).

Ahmed bin Said al Marhobi, Finance Director General at OMIFCO signed the agreements on behalf of the company, while Sultan bin Nasser al Amri, Board Chairman of OSHI, Sultan bin Ahmed al Sabahi, Deputy Board Chairman of NAB and Yahya bin Abdullah al Aamri, Board Chairman of OAD signed the agreements on behalf of the aforesaid associatio­ns.

Dr Yahya bin Badr al Maawali, UnderSecre­tary of the Ministry of Social Developmen­t, a number of officials at the Social Developmen­t Ministry and OMIFCO, and representa­tives and members of the three associatio­ns attended the signing ceremony.

Meanwhile, Al Noor Associatio­n for the Blind on Thursday concluded its participat­ion at the General Assembly of the World Union for the Blind, which was hosted by Florida in the US during August 18-25.

A large number of countries, including the Sultanate took part at the General Assembly.

Rashid bin Sulaiman al Farsi, Chairman of Al Noor Associatio­n for the Blind, said that heads of the participan­t delegation­s attended the opening prosthetic devices for the blind exhibition.

The devices are manufactur­ed by major companies from China, Korea, US and other countries of the world.
