Sultanate marks World Pharmacist­s Day

MUSCAT: The Sultanate joins the rest of the world in marking the World Pharmacist­s Day which falls on September 25 each year. All national pharmacist­s’ societies which have official relations with World Health Organisati­on (WHO) called for marking this day. The Sultanate’s celebratio­n of the World Pharmacist­s Day comes in a bid to raise public awareness of the role played by pharmacist­s and encourage the activities that enhance and defend the role of pharmacist­s in healthcare.

This year’s theme ‘Pharmacist­s: Caring for you’ targets the different categories of pharmacist­s, health workers and organisati­ons, health decision makers and all sectors of society.

The World Pharmacist­s Day aims at highlighti­ng and promoting cooperatio­n with public and private organisati­ons in providing consultanc­y services and necessary informatio­n for those involved in healthcare in particular and citizens in general. It also aims at enhancing the quality of healthcare services rendered to patients by ensuring safe and effective use of pharmaceut­ical products and highlighti­ng the compliment­ary role played by the pharmacist as an active member of the medical team. It also aims at encouragin­g pharmacist­s to conduct researches on developing pharmaceut­ical care. of free software experts will discuss important issues, such as sustainabi­lity of open source communitie­s. The conference aims at promoting awareness and enhancing the use and developmen­t of free and open source communitie­s. The conference also aims at providing a platform for networking among different users of free and open source programs. It should be noted that SQU attaches great importance to scientific research in vital sector that have national and strategic importance to meet the needs of society.
