Sultanate marks World Pharmacists Day
MUSCAT: The Sultanate joins the rest of the world in marking the World Pharmacists Day which falls on September 25 each year. All national pharmacists’ societies which have official relations with World Health Organisation (WHO) called for marking this day. The Sultanate’s celebration of the World Pharmacists Day comes in a bid to raise public awareness of the role played by pharmacists and encourage the activities that enhance and defend the role of pharmacists in healthcare.
This year’s theme ‘Pharmacists: Caring for you’ targets the different categories of pharmacists, health workers and organisations, health decision makers and all sectors of society.
The World Pharmacists Day aims at highlighting and promoting cooperation with public and private organisations in providing consultancy services and necessary information for those involved in healthcare in particular and citizens in general. It also aims at enhancing the quality of healthcare services rendered to patients by ensuring safe and effective use of pharmaceutical products and highlighting the complimentary role played by the pharmacist as an active member of the medical team. It also aims at encouraging pharmacists to conduct researches on developing pharmaceutical care. of free software experts will discuss important issues, such as sustainability of open source communities. The conference aims at promoting awareness and enhancing the use and development of free and open source communities. The conference also aims at providing a platform for networking among different users of free and open source programs. It should be noted that SQU attaches great importance to scientific research in vital sector that have national and strategic importance to meet the needs of society.
