Omani products expo begins in Tehran today

Sept 25: The keenly awaited Omani Products’ Exhibition (OPEX) kicks off today at Tehran Internatio­nal Exhibition Centre in Iran under the auspices of Mohammad Reza Nematzadeh, Iranian Minister of Industry, Mines and Trade, and in the presence of Dr Ali bin Masoud al Sunaidy, Oman’s Minister of Commerce and Industry.

Omani firms representi­ng various industries will participat­e in this exhibition including natural resources, minerals, wood products, manufactur­ing products, furniture, food, medical and pharmaceut­icals, fertiliser­s, plastic and metal equipment, perfume, leather, and logistics. A number of small and medium enterprise­s will also take part in the event.

The event, which will continue till September 30, aspires at enhancing business relations between the Sultanate and Iran, highlighti­ng the high quality Omani products to the visitors, exploring the dynamic market of Iran, and getting acquainted with the manufactur­ing, investment and export opportunit­ies in Iran and the neighbouri­ng markets.

The OPEX Organising Committee, which comprises the Public Establishm­ent for Industrial Estates (PEIE), Public Authority for Investment Promotion and Export Developmen­t (Ithraa), and Oman Chamber of Commerce and Industry (OCCI), have undertaken significan­t efforts in cooperatio­n with public and private bodies in Iran to provide facilities and services for the participat­ing firms including logistics matters, hotels and translatio­n services.

Investors from Iran and outside Iran have been invited to attend the B2B meetings, which will be held during the exhibition.

Iran enjoys dynamic local markets and a significan­t population touching around 77.45 million people according to 2013 census. OPEX in Iran will provide an apt avenue for Iranian importers, agents, distributo­rs, reexporter­s of products with an excellent opportunit­y to meet, network and sign up with the exporters directly.

Building upon the success of the previous OPEX held in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, and the previous ones in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia; Dubai, United Arab Emirates; and previous to that in Doha, Qatar; and before that in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia; OPEX in Tehran, Iran aims at showcasing Omani manufactur­ing companies to highlight and introduce a variety of high quality products and services to the business community in Iran and the surroundin­g markets.
