Haya Water at Traffic Safety Exhibition
MUSCAT: Haya Water is participating in the Traffic Safety Exhibition 2016 in its fifth edition, which is held in compliance with the directives of His Majesty Sultan Qaboos. The aim of this exhibition is to spread traffic awareness among various people in the society.
Haya Water is in the golden sponsorship category and has been given a special corner in the exhibition. Hussain bin Hassan Abdul Hussain, CEO of Haya Water, said: “Our participation in the exhibition is to spread awareness among people where specialists from the company educate visitors about the importance of occupational health and safety and illustrate the company’s experience in this field. Haya water is well-known as one of the major companies committed to occupational health and safety and it considers it a key pillar that everyone should comply with in various work sites of the company.”
Hussain added that the company pays great attention to occupational health and safety. The company undertakes different procedures in the field of safety in order to avoid diseases and accidents. This is achieved by increasing awareness among employees and contractors through specialised training programmes.
He said that there is a section in Haya Water that deals with occupational health and safety issues, educates employees and contractors and ensures they adhere to the objectives and policies of the company in the field of occupational health and safety. As a result of these efforts, Haya Water was able to achieve 4 million hours without lost time incidents last year. This achievement is, no doubt, a reflection of the company’s policy and commitment to adhere to occupational safety and health. In addition, the company obtained the membership of the British Council for Occupational Safety and Health.
It is worth mentioning that the role of the Occupational Health and Safety section in the company is to provide a safety and healthy working environment for its employees and protect the facilities and assets of the company. To achieve this, the company issued a booklet on occupational health and safety which illustrates and explains the risks and hazards surrounding the working environment whether they are physical, mechanical or biological and how to deal with these risks.
