In collaboration with the International Basketball Federation and Asian Basketball Association, The Oman Basketball Association will organize the fifth international camp for the basketball referees.

The event will be held at the Sultan Qaboos Sport Complex from December 10 to 14. Besides Omani referees, 55 referees from many countries, namely, GCC, Lebanon, Algeria, Syria, Palestine, Yemen, Iran, Kenya, and Singapore will take part in this camp. The event will be supervised by the Chairman of the Referees Committee.

Ahmed bin Darweesh al Balushi, the Chairman of Referees Committee, told Oman Observer that the main goal of this camp is to develop the basketball game in the Sultanate. The camp also aims to gain new experiences from the international experts who will take part in this camp.

“Enhancing the arbitration skills is one of the most important pillars in any sport. And it is an essential aspect to spread and develop the game in general. The Omani association has been attempting to improve the Omani referee’s team since rather long time.”

“We have prepared an action plan to involve most of Omani who are interested in this game. Part of our practical plan, each year the Omani Association provides three referees to obtain international training courses in many countries,” he added.
